Adam began his 25 year career in Crude and Products Operations in 1992 when he joined the North Sea crude desk at Shell, during the exciting days of 15-day Brent. He spent 3 years with Rhein-Oel before moving to BP in 2000 where he took up a role in Product Operations, working on the Distillate, Light Ends and LPG benches. A spell on the Crude Operations desk handling West African led to a promotion to the Operations Leadership Team and the responsibility for leading the Mediterranean/Black Sea/Persian Gulf Crude Operations teams. In 2010, Morgan Stanley won the Contract to feed Grangemouth and Lavera Refineries and Adam left BP to lead Crude Supply Operations. In his three years at Morgan Stanley, Adam also took on Fuel Oil, Coal and LNG responsibilities before leaving in 2013 to join BTG Pactual. At BTG Pactual (now Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners) Adam set up the capability for the Oil desk to handle physical business in a safe, secure and controlled manner. Being a start-up, there was little infrastructure to work with initially and as such his wider responsibilities, beyond Operations and Shipping, included Systems, Contracts, Settlements and 3rd Party Service Contracts (Agents, Inspectors, Superintendents, Vetting Services etc). Design and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliant and correct data management was crucial. Adam was also a key player in the origination and implementation of new business. Adam has a strong hands-on approach to physical operations utilising the experience and knowledge gained working across oil majors, investment banks and a trading house. Having a progressive career across both Crude and Refined Products, he has encountered and successfully resolved many of the issues associated with particular grade types, locations and counterparties. This gives him a unique ability to identify likely difficulties with new transactions and proactively offer solutions which meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
